Maria Almonte Obituary

Worcester, MA - It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend Maria Almonte of Worcester. Maria was seventy-seven years old and was fighting a vigorous disease known as ALS, that she was diagnosed with as of September 2020. On January 20th Maria was overtaken by her sickness and passed away on this very day.

As the amazing mother she was she always advised everyone especially her family to always be great parents. Maria raised five kids in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic on her own and showed her true virtues of a strong, wise mother and pushed her kids for the very best. Although she lost two sons Felix Garcia and Freddy Almonte due to heartbreaking events she was left with her two daughters Ana Maria Garcia, Angela Matias, and her last son Edwin Clander. Maria has showed her kids where hard work will take you and always reminded us to stay humble. She’s met many great people because of this, even those who have been friends with her for years.

She dedicated many of her years of work at TJMAX where she met so many wonderful people and we can’t express enough the love everyone has had for her. The amazing comments and memories that everyone has experienced with her is unbelievable. Maria loved spending time with her family between her kids, her grandkids and even great grandkids! She had an incredible bond with every one of them and spoiled them all with her unconditional love and care. Between feeding us till our stomachs can’t take no more and shoving bits of money into our pockets every time we would come around. Maria was blessed to have five grandkids ranging from different ages which for her she adored cause she got to grow a special bond with each one of them. Her grandkids who got to spend the best of the best times with her were Angela Seitz , Ludwin Matias, Darwin Matias, Bryan Clander, and Denise St. Croix. Not only did Maria enjoy being with her grandkids but also her great-grandchildren she completely adored and enjoyed for the two years they’ve joined us in the world. Javian and Jesiah St croix we’re her only great grandchildren and have also experienced and enjoyed Maria’s special love. As humble and loving Maria was she was a very religious women. Her acts of kindness and caring personality came from the love she had for god. She always prayed for her children and her family and made sure to show us all how to pray and love god the way she did. She attended a beautiful cathedral in Worcester called Cathedral of St Paul we’re she walked to every Sunday for the morning service and brought her two youngest grandchildren to faithfully. With the love and guidance from god Maria was always at peace and always wanted to make sure her family was well fed and taken care of. Therefore a day never went by that she was not with her family making memories and sharing her funny jokes and stories. Maria Almonte will be greatly missed and her story will forever go on and be shared as generations go on. With her guidance and love from above we will always have her in our hearts.
