Worcester—Ignatius Shen, 75, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at the Rose Monahan Hospice Home, where he was extremely well cared for in the final months of his life.
Ignatius was born in Shanghai, China where he was a trained Electrician. In 1986, at the age of 42, Ignatius immigrated to Stamford, CT with the help of numerous
friends including Michael Doyle of Stamford, CT and Ignatius and Margaret Chu of Stamford, CT in order to pursue his dream to freely practice Catholicism. With
the help of the same friends, Ignatius was later able to bring his wife, Josephine and son, Zu to the United States right before the Tiananmen Square incident that
occurred in China in 1989. Ignatius and his family moved to Norwalk, CT where his wife, Josephine still resides.
Ignatius is predeceased by his parents and three older siblings. He is survived by his wife, Josephine Shen; his son, Zu Shen; his daughter-in-law, Stephanie Shen
and two grandkids who he loved dearly, Owen and Jocelyn Shen.
There will be a funeral Mass at 10:00 am on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at the Blessed Sacrament Church, 551 Pleasant Street, Worcester, MA. There are no
calling hours. Interment will follow at Rural Cemetery, 180 Grove Street, Worcester, MA.
