Eric Cam Ngo, a beloved father, brother, uncle, and friend, peacefully passed away in his sleep on Saturday January 31, 2026, at the age of 67. He will be greatly missed by all those who have been lucky enough to have known him.
Eric was born on June 28, 1958, in Saigon, Vietnam where he was raised by his father Ngoc Ngo and mother Nghi Ho. He was the seventh oldest out of nine children. He left Vietnam with two of his nieces, Thao Phuong Le and Diep Vo deBenedictis in October 1980 and was rescued by the commander of the 7th Fleet of the USS Blue Ridge after ten days in the ocean. They were brought to the Philippines where they spent almost a year in a refugee camp. During that time, he protected his nieces and the friends he met at the camp, often bringing them leftovers from the food pantry where he volunteered. Eric was sponsored to go to the United States in 1981 and lived in Virginia and New York until he settled in Worcester, MA where he resided for over 20 years; even though he spent the last years of his life primarily within other areas of Massachusetts, he continued to consider Worcester as home.
Eric was a free-spirited man defined by his loyalty to his friends and family. He held a deep and enduring love for his siblings, nieces, and nephews. His friendships - many of which spanned decades - were a testament to how he deeply valued his loved ones. He embraced the role of a stay-at-home father to his only child, Jacqueline Nancy Ngo, whom he shared with his former wife Nancy Ngo.
He found immense joy in the simple things in life: a good game of Thirteen with friends, the excitement of watching football games and rooting for the Patriots, the comfort of watching Vietnamese dramas or competition shows, singing and playing his guitar, going to temple, and most of all, spending quality time with those he loved.
In the last years of his life, he unfortunately faced health challenges including a stroke in 2017. He was unexpectedly diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer in January 2026, which he ultimately passed away from days after his diagnosis. Even in the face of adversity, he never lost his hope of a bright future. In his final moments he had his daughter Jacqueline Ngo, sister Phuong Ngo, and niece Tiffany Tran by his side. He was surrounded by many loved ones during the final weeks of his life.
Eric was preceded in death by his parents Ngoc Ngo and Nghi Ho, and older brother Trien Ngo. Eric is survived by his daughter Jacqueline Ngo, siblings Liet Ngo, Quyen Ngo, Phuong Ngo, Si Ngo, and Huy Ngo, and his nieces and nephews Thao Phuong Le, Thao Tammy Vo, Diep Vo deBenedictis, Christine Tran, Crystal Ngo, Jeanie Ngo, Son Tran, Katherine Tran, Tiffany Tran, Trang Pheng, Tuan Vuong, Vivian Ngo, and Vanessa Ngo.
His funeral services will be held at Graham, Putnam, & Mahoney Funeral Parlors 838 Main St Worcester, MA 01610 on Saturday February 7, 2026, from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM. The first hour will be for Buddhist prayer, and the second hour for viewing and to pay respects.
