Arnold Lewis Miliefsky, known in Hebrew as Arye Leib, passed away surrounded by the love of his family. He was raised in an Orthodox Jewish household in Worcester, MA where his parents extended their hospitality to Rabbi Fogelman during his early days in the community.
Arnold was deeply committed to serving his community in the Springfield, MA area. He chaired fundraising efforts for organizations dedicated to supporting individuals affected by abuse, including men, women and children. During the holiday seasons, he volunteered for 11 years at the Open Pantry serving meals to the homeless, and he also contributed his time at Friends of the Homeless. After retiring, Arnold continued his dedication to service by working in Springfield schools for many years.
Family was always Arnold's top priority. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis working in the engine rooms of three submarines. The first two were diesel-electric and the third one was the USS Seawolf, the sister ship to the USS Nautilus and the second nuclear-powered submarine in U.S. history.
Arnold is survived by his devoted wife, Sandy Greece Miliefsky, their two children, three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. His legacy of service, dedication, and love for his family and community will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
