Alexandru C. Megas

  Webster – Alexandru C. Megas, 86, passed away at Hubbard Hospital on Monday March 31, 2025, after being stricken ill at home.

  Alexandru was born in Bulgaria on May 19, 1938, son of the late Nicolae and Sofia (Megas) Georgescu of Romania.  After emigrating to the United States, Alexandru earned his master’s degree, working as an economist for many years, until his retirement.  In 1971, Alexandru married his beloved wife Gabriela, with whom he raised their three sons.

  Alexandru will be deeply missed by his dear wife of fifty-four years, Gabriela E. (Leonard) Megas; his son Philip and his wife Dana and their children Sam, Alexis, Nicholas, and Max; his son Alexis, his wife Diana, and their child Natalie; Daniel, his wife Kristen, and their children Maddie, Phoenix, Gabriel, Marissa, and Malaina.

  Alexandru will be fondly remembered for his love for his family, his joy of gardening, his avid reading, his care for animals, and his most enjoyable trips to the ocean.
