Worcester – Joan E. (nee Rourke) died peacefully on March 30th, 2017 at the St. Francis Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Worcester, MA at the age of 88.
Joan is survived by her daughter Dawn and son-in-law Gregory Poole, of Worcester, MA, and her nieces and nephews; She is preceded in death by her brothers Ronald and Russell, and her sister Marion, and her former husband, Erwin Sanders.
Joan was born on December 23rd, 1928 in the Bronx, NY to Francis and Ethel Rourke (nee Johnson); She lived in the New York City area for most of her life and worked for the department of Motor Vehicles for a number of years; She moved to Worcester, MA in 2001. Joan loved animals and nature, and enjoyed caring for plants, cooking, classic films, shopping, and home decorating.
Committal will be private, a memorial service will be held at a later date.
