Philo, “Rock” King of West Dennis and Auburn, MA passed away on February 26, 2016 at home after a short illness with his loving wife at his bedside.

 

Born in St. Louis, Missouri he attended Phillips Academy In Andover, MA and later graduated from Princeton University.  He served in the army and was stationed in Germany during WWII.

 

    He was a widower, married to the former Virginia Hildreth who passed in 1980.   He later married Patricia Deignan Klein, his wife of 30 years.

 

Rock was a talented entertainer and composer.  He performed his songs, music, and comedy at the Sand Bar in West Dennis for 54 years.  He was co-owner of the former Sister Kate’s restaurant in Stowe, Vermont where he entertained during the winter seasons.   Rock had many a loyal fan base calling on him for private parties and engagements all over the US.   He played for the former US President Gerald Ford in Vail, Colorado, inspiring one of his many humorous show lines.  

 

He was an avid golfer and skier, a long time member of the Hyannisport Golf Club and Mt. Mansfield ski racing team.

 

Besides his wife he leaves a stepdaughter Heather Videgar, two granddaughters, one great granddaughter, and three great nephews of Nashville, TN, his niece Katherine Fish and two nephews of Atlanta Georgia.

 

Rock will always be remembered for his kind, easy going spirit and his outstanding hospitality, which he extended to all be it on the slopes, the seaside, or at home around the piano.
