Surrounded by her loving family, her beautiful quilts, and her extensive artwork, Nancy Mary Quinn, 60, “slipped peacefully into the ethers” on Thursday, July 27, 2017, at the Rose Monahan Hospice House in Worcester, MA.

Nancy was born on May 26, 1957, in Fitchburg MA to John Douglas Quinn and Lorraine Theresa (O’Sullivan Quinn) Gaston. She graduated from Oakmont Regional High School in 1975 and continued her love of learning for the rest of her life, earning a degree from Bancroft School of Massage Therapy and several additional degrees from Mount Wachusett Community College.

Nancy’s life was a culmination of expressing love through massage and art. As an accomplished massage therapist, naturopath, and hypnotist, she brought a holistic approach to her therapy by combining all of her skills to treat the mind, body, and spirit. To receive a massage from her knowledgeable hands was to be transformed and healed.

As an artist, Nancy was a gifted quilter and gardener. Having recently discovered a passion for paper art, she created numerous masterful journals. Her love of the creative was not limited to the physical and natural arts, for she enjoyed all forms of music, literature, theatre, dance, poetry, and film. She loved movie banter and could compete with the best of them when reciting famous movie lines.

Although we often use expressions to describe a person’s life, to do so for Nancy finds us delving into our hearts and even our souls. It is difficult to try to put into words what it felt like to be embraced by this incredible Earth Mother. She hugged with her whole being. When asked to summarize Nancy, loved ones responded by saying, “She was always present and mindful of others,” and “She had a tender touch in everything she did.” Others said, “She was beautiful, humble, and kind”; “nurturing”; “lyrical”; “inquisitive”; “funny”; “thoughtful”; “open hearted”; “playful”, and “a great listener.”

Nancy will be sadly missed by her son, Luke Giovannetti, and his wife, Beth; her two grandsons, Matheau and Vincent Giovannetti; her eight siblings, Eileen Moore Quinn and her partner, Shamus Pender; Linda Quinn Maguire and her husband Dennis; Daniel T. Quinn; Martin D. Quinn; Stephen E. Quinn; Terry Quinn Maguire and her husband, Paul; Maura Quinn Stobie; Brian F. Quinn and his wife, Elaine; her maternal aunt, Patricia O’Sullivan Gagne; and her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Her beloved nephew, Garrett M. Maguire, predeceased her in 2008.

Following a private memorial for immediate family members, a Celebration of Life gathering will be held at a later date.

Nancy asked that, for anyone who might like to send flowers, “perhaps plant something instead, to remember me, and my love for you.”
