WORCESTER – Ann V. (Fairbanks) Murphy, 85, passed away on February 27, 2018. She was born and raised on a farm in Shrewsbury, the daughter of the late Louis A. and Pauline A. (Gould) Fairbanks, and a descendent of the late VP Charles Fairbanks and the Fairbanks’ Homestead Museum in Dedham, Mass.
She leaves 2 daughters, Sandra (Nicholas) Brown and her husband Steven Brown of Worcester and Kimberly (Nicholas) Whitaker and her husband Kim Whitaker of N. Brookfield; 4 grandchildren, James Williams, III of Worcester, Jennifer Troy of Oxford, Elisha (Light) Egan of Gardner, and Jillian (Light) Theurer of Spencer; and 6 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by 2 half brothers, Douglas and Wilfred Fairbanks and 1 half sister Kathleen (Fairbanks) Schleyer.
She graduated from Major Beal Shrewsbury High School in 1951, UMass. of Amherst in 1955 and received a Bachelors Degree in Psychology. She later enrolled in a Master’s Degree program at Worcester State and Anna Maria College.
Ann taught D.U.I. classes for Bancroft Human Services before retiring. She was a dedicated baptized Jehovah’s Witness.
Calling hours will be from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, March 2, at Graham Putnam & Mahoney Funeral Parlor, 838 Main St., Worcester. Prayer services to follow.
