Alicia T. Garcia
Anyone who knew Alicia T. Garcia knew that she was a fervent warrior in every sense of the word; she left her loving mark on every person she came across.
Alicia T. García, age 83 of Worcester, sadly left us on December 3, 2023. She was surrounded by loved ones during her final moments. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Fundador Garcia and her sons, Richard and Angelo Garcia, and siblings Nilda, Mariana, Gloria, Elsie, and Cresencio. She was the second oldest of 11 siblings. Alicia leaves behind 5 siblings, 6 children (Alice Judee, Fernando, Charles, Graciela, Maria and Miguel), 18 grandchildren, and 25 great grandchildren. She has always been the true Matriarch of the family, loved both widely and deeply.
Alicia was born in Salinas, Puerto Rico on February 14, 1940. It’s no coincidence that she was born on a day that is known for celebrating love; she epitomized the true meaning of love, warmth, and tenderness. To God’s glory, while in Puerto Rico, she founded Iglesia De Dios Pentecostal M.I. in 1984. In 1985, Alicia moved to Worcester, and in 1987, she became a member of Mission Board Church now known as Iglesia de Dios Worcester, where she once again committed herself to God’s glory in the reconstruction of the temple. She was a devoted stable woman of God, and her love for the Lord was contagious.
She gave back to the community in more ways than one could count. Alicia also spent many years working at the Salvation Army of Worcester, where she was lovingly called “Mama”. Her never ending spread of the love of God in meeting human needs demonstrated Alicia’s effortless approach to put others before herself. She lived a life truly dedicated to the ways of our Lord Jesus. Her mission consisted of two goals: first, to spread the gospel of who God is by sharing His Greatness with the world, and second, to spread His unconditional agape LOVE. She did so with such grace and became a Godsend angel to the lives of many.
Though Alicia may have left us in flesh, she will never leave us in heart and spirit. The seed she planted inside all of us, Her Legacy, has lit the torch that her loved ones will continue to carry with great honor. May Alicia’s legacy endure. “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” -Deuteronomy 6:5-7
Lastly, through the words of our beloved angel Alicia, "Un abrazo fraternal para todos!"
